Dye Sheen, We Need More.
I've recently been quite lost with the new dye system. It's very annoying how limited the colors are on most armor sets. Black is like adding dark purple on quite a few. 65% of all combinations come out as purple. The lack of the old dye remover to invert stuff makes me sad as well.
The old dye system was better for.. sheen? I'm not sure that's the right word to explain it. We need that back while keeping the solid coloring provided now. I personally liked the old dye better, but they have both seemed like half a system. It's like we were missing a slider.
Assuming what we're working with now is Color + Material it's placed on, we need a way to change the properties of the second one. Sorta of like adding coal to your red, or monstrous eye juice to make your yellow "shine". Silver really only abuses shadowing now, and white is like dipping stuff in white, not adding white to it. You add a single white to yellow and it literally sucks the yellow out. We need a way to keep the color while changing it's intensity and shine.
We need suggestions, someone who knows more about art than I do would probably be best. *Laughs*

/signed Bring back dye remover for two reasons: one, it increases dye combos. Two, if you dye a weapon, you cannot get it back to its original color with gray dye. Fix it anet.

I don't really have a preference to either dye system as long as we have the dye preview, but anything that gives us the most options for dye combinations certainly has my vote!

preview dye rocks, but it just seems there aren't any kickass dye combinations anymore. I loved the red + dye remover combo on an armor of me, now it's impossible to recreate it

Good to know I'm not totally insane. The new dye system feels more open, but I think that's the preview window doing it's magic. I'm not sure how dye remover would work with the new one's. We need something, just doesn't seem like there's as much variety. You might be half a shade different from the guy next to you with 40k in black tossed in, but it's hardly noticeable.

Ok so I have a story.
I just bought my paragorn a new set of armor and was struggling to find a nice gold color with the dyes. By accident I put two yellow dyes in the window. The color on the armor was a nice bright gold color and I was amazed by it. When I clicked "apply dye" it didn't apply giving me the error, "you cannot apply two of the same color dyes to one armor". Now the color was a good amount different, here is a picture:
Now I dont know how noticable it is in the picture but it is very noticable in game and I was mad that I couldnt have that color. Dye system does need to change.

i wish we could view the dyes before we buy. kinda pointless buying a black dye to try then finding its not to your liking. So you just end up wasting 9k

I've been unhappy with the dye system from the first. The preview window is great, but the colors just don't work the same, and I got quite irritated when we were told that you can replicate every old dye combo. That just isn't true, obviously. Something needs to be done.

yah, the system is bunk... the preview window, white dye, black dye, and brown dye can stay, but now bring back the rest of the old stuff.
still got blood red dye on my necro armor
i had a chance to get enough white dye, black, red, and all others to test all possible ways to get blood red again; turns out = not possible.
needs to be fixed

Gray dye doesn't work like dye remover, so it was a poor switch. Gray itself is a nice dye to have, but I'd like to have it alongside dye remover.

/signed for more dye combinations
/unsigned if it means removing the preview, as this allows me to hoard 3 of every color to test out and stuff
